Hi Guys,
I just joined JetPhotos.net. I have quite an extensive collection of mostly Revell, Airfix and Hasegawa 1/144 and 1/200th scale kits. I have about 40 built and another 375 or so to go. I also have quite a large decal collection to go with them. You can see a pic of my display case and a TWA 767 I'm workingon here: http://www.airlinercafe.com/forum/plug.php?p=browser&f=13

Can I ask a request from you guys. I want to start collecting, but I don't know where to start. I was wondering if you could post some pics of your models next to something so I can get a feeling of the actual real-world size. Most of the pics of 1:400 are macro, so I can't get a good look at what they would look like on my shelf?

Any help would be awesome

The ones on the top shelf are 1:200 and 1:250
<IMG SRC=http://www.jetphotos.net/user-uploads/modelexamp1.jpg>

and my one and only 1:400 because my ANZ 747 broke :(
<IMG SRC=http://www.jetphotos.net/user-uploads/modelexamp2.jpg>

I have just recently decided that I would collect mostly 1:400 because of the rarity and higher value of them, plus check this link out, it is just some of the things that you can do with 1:400 and 1:500 that you cant do with 1:100/200/250
http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/forum/showthread.php?s=191254ddc10013dd985612410d878212&threadid=28089

That is a VERY advanced model of NRT, but if you click through the rest of the model airports, you can design your own or do whatever you want with them. :)

And so what is the reg. of Saudi MD-11 ?

I have Gemini C-32A, nice model, just a pity that it's not the same blue as Dragon VC-25A.

Interesting airliners can be found in all of your collections....

Mine started with Schabak, years ago....now I have abt 550 different ones. But I stopped collecting them. Wld say addnl 100 of Herpa, Gemini, StarJets, Wooster etc.

But the prettiest are: BOAC VC 10 in I think 1:50 scale, Qantas ocls 747SP and an old Air NZ DC8 in TEAL cls (abt 60cms long) and a 130cm long very big Air NZ DC10. They are my absolute favourites. As you can imagine, space gets tight in a flat with these beauties....thats why I sell some Herpas and StarJets, e.g. ANK/EVA joint cls MD11 etc.

Let me know if you are interested.

As soon as I have some pics of the big ones I will add them here.

Hey team, I have been in search of 1/200 or 1/144 decals for Air Jamaica in their old, pre 1995 colors (excluding the blue stripe) for DC8-61, B-727 200, A 300 B4.

Can anyone out there help me please, I would really appreciate it very much.

Made pictures of my place last Sunday. This included a session with the model collection, kept in their boxes. Pics will follow. I made up my mind to display 3 of them at a time. At time posting the lucky winners sitting atop shelves of slide boxes are
- American Eagle ATR 42,
- Pan Am 727-200
- Varig MD11
all three of the snap fit variety.
One permanently displayed is an
- AF 707 in today's c/s which is the well known Airfix 1/144th combined with the set of engine pods from a Revell kit in order to portray a P&W JT3D3 powered 328B. Other modification includes the wing tips. Sadly enough, the wing fairing intrados could not be reworked (I would have so much loved getting the specific shapes of "Elephant Ears"). The results is nice enough, otherwise I would not have invested FFR 200 (+/- 35 Euros) to bring it back.

I've been thinking about some US Airways 737s actually...The dark (I still see black) planes would be kinda nice with the all white ones. I saw the America West double pack (Gemini - 737-200), I would get that as well if I got the US since there is an A320 in the new livery (US Airways - Seen here (http://www.400scalehangar.net/forum/files/gj-usairways_231.jpg)) coming from Gemini.

Well, dark blue doesn't sound so hot, but the black+silver+red+white looks good to me. :)

My optometrist says I have "red/green confusion". I have trouble with green/brown/blue. Mostly medium to dark shades. I can see things like traffic lights and such ok, but I see darker greens as brown and browns as green (sometimes blue or black). My grandparents had a car that I spent a good 10 years thinking it was brown. One day I mentioned "the brown car" and no one knew what I was talking about. :)

I on the other side, red really stands out for me. I can spot darker reds quite good, even if only a little is showing.

That model is nice, I was looking at it myself not too long ago. I decided to hold off and pray AeroClassics does one :D Dragon has a USAF 757 as well don't they? (I forget the military model number for the 757, sorry)

*sigh*

September alone has like 10 I want :(

Off the top of my head:
- BigBird WardAir 747-200, 747-100 (got them on order)
- BigBird Cathay Pacific 747-200 and 747-200F (I like having sets of them when I can get them...Sets being a pax and cargo version)
- BigBird American 747-100 and -100F
- GeminiJets LH A320 Retrojet
- BigBird United Airlines 747 in the 80's colours

Then theres Aeroclassics....I love their DC-3, DC-6 and Connies.
Sabena DC-6
South African L-749
BOAC L-749

And that doesnt even touch the older models :)

I like the older stuff, I managed to pick up the United DC-10-10 "DC-10 Friend Ship" from Dragon. It's quite nice!

Oops! I forgot the Pan American connie..It looks really good too.

I was going to pick up the TMA set when Aviation World had it's sale, 50% off! I really couldn't believe it was in the tent. But I had too much other stuff, didn't want to max out my credit card on models. :)

I didn't know BigBird did an Atlas model. The worst thing about BigBird and Aeroclassics (Same guy owns both it seems) is once they sell out, you'll never see them again. Which is too bad, there's some great models.

The CX ones do look good though, I like the green livery. I'll get some picks when I get them, I take pictures of all the models when I get them for insurance.

And its easy to get carried away. especially when you are need of a special model.

I don't rememberhow much I paid for the 767, the were both around $30(CAD) though. Aeroclassics are usually around there for the smaller jets. The props around $20 to $50 and up to $45 for the 747s :( 10% and 20% discounts really help though!

Sometimes they have a good deal. I haven't bought any new models from there though, just stuff I can't find elsewhere. Like teh Trans-Canada DC-3's.

I've been looking at Airline Museum (http://www.airlinemuseum.com/catalog/) The prices don't seem super cheap, but they have some really nice stuff I couldn't possibly get here and I haven't seen on Ebay.

I'm thinking about getting the Western Pacific 737 Simpsons Logo jet from them. It's a pretty wacky looking plane.

My collection of aviation hasn't grown much recently but my collection of cars is growing quite steadily right now.

Got a Emirates 773ER 1:400 and a United 772 1:400.

Also got a Kyosho Ferrari 250GTO, F40, 288GTO and a F50 for my car collection all in 1:43 and got a Bugatti Veyron in 1:43 on it's way!

My display cabinet in two halves....

http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/8783/dsc0063display1.jpg

Pride of place goes to the El Al diecast Britannia presented to me on the occasion of my 60th birthday by my work colleagues.

Second shelf down contains excellent die cast WW2 models.

Third shelf, right side. The AS350 is modified to the colours of the Kent Air Ambulance which replaced G-MASK which crashed, killing the crew. The registration G-KGMT commemorates K for Kent, G for Graham the pilot, M and T for Mark and Tony, the paramedic crew. It should actually be an AS355 but no-one makes a model of that.
Hiding behind G-KGMT is VH-ESD, Bell 412 of Queensland Rescue, based at Cairns.

Fourth shelf far left. Wiltshire Air Ambulance Bo105. Far right. Dauphin G-HEMS of the London Air Ambulance in Virgin sponsor colours.

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/6982/dsc0064display2.jpg

Top right. Utterly Butterly Boeing Stearman die cast given to me by a friend for photographing her wing walk experience.

Third shelf down. Nascar #3. The late, great Dale (The Intimidator ) Earnhardt's car.

Bottom shelf left. Damon Hill's Williams had a close experience of the "Cat" kind when my cat broke the front wing end plate. The Cat came extremely close to a fatal end in his water bowl at outside right !!!!

Time does go by fast, and models accumulate very fast. I stated in 2004 and today this is it.

I am desperately trying to stay away from this addiction, but more and more, I am being drawn in. Currently, I have contact to a collector in Germany whose wife is pissed off with all his models, and demanded he sell some. Thus far, I have gained about 6 from him, all quite old, and originally packed...Herpa models, in 1:500 scale. Lord help me...I need more!!!
