It's sad to see such a large loss of life. I wonder why the plane crashed. Possibly pilot error, technical faults, or poor weather conditions.

A little tangental, I'm not too fond of Iran's Revolutionary Guards. They've brutally killed hundreds of student demonstrators in Tehran peacefully demanding true democracy and human rights in Iran as well as the execution of dozens of political activists demanding the same thing. Personally, I have the feeling that the days of the Ayatollah are numbered. It didn't deliver Iranians the great things what it had promised in the 1979 revolution. It is one ugly regime.

Follow up:

Iran's neighbour Pakistan also lost a Fokker 27, which killed 17, including the military chief.

Which type Antonov can hold 302 people? Certainly not an AN-26! Do they have an AN-124? :skeptic:

I thought it was an IL-76 or one of the 747's that TWA sold to the IAF back in 1970's!

Cheers! :D

The number of casualties is reset to 275 (of course still 275 too much).

Actually, I think I heard that some people were killed on the ground. Maybe that went into the total death amout of 275.
