Hey Everyone!

I'd just like to get some thoughts about the future of LAS and with National's demise, if any airlines will start focus city operations at LAS.

My opinion is that with Southwest and America West's large operations at LAS, I don't see any new flights than just flights to the different airlines hubs.

Could AirTran use LAS as a base for western operations? You know AirTran has to go out west sometime and my bet is that they will come here very soon?

I don't think that LAS will see another airline hub there. I feel the problem is that as a holiday destination, there is only really a desire for discount tickets. It'l probably become a situation close to PHX's where HP and WN fight it out for the bulk of the traffic. Just my $0.02

I can't see anyone having flights connect through LAS....Seems like its a Ending point for an airline. Up here in Canada we send and have sent many Charters there....works really well for that. I think that the size matters as well, LAS is growing at an alarming rate and you will see in the next 10 years whether it will be a good HUB or not.

As PA pointed out, it really is just a holiday spot. HOw many passengers can the airport accomodate? Perhaps due to Las Vegas' booming growth, a new airport or an upgrade to presnet-day LAS will be done? Would a replacement/renovation attract airlines to LAS?

Maybe since Las Vegas is a gambling city airlines think the area as a HUB is just a big gamble.
