Well it's finals week and I have one down and one to go, so I figured this is the best time to finish up my trip home and then up to school at the end of the summer. I know I said soon at the end of the last thread, so I think this is soon enough. I honestly haven't had the time to get around to this one this semester, so here we go. Almost 4 months isn't really that bad.
Continuation of this one:

So I got home and spent the nights I had at home sleeping on the couch because my room was (and I think still is) a mess, so we just didn't bother with it. Anyways, I was speaking at my youth group at my home church about this summer that Wednesday night, so that day I decided to go out and think about what I was going to say. I drove around for a little bit and ended up at the scenic overlook on Park Road 4. It's a spot you have to see for yourself. The drive is pretty fun getting out there, also. It faces west, so the view of the sunsets are amazing.

That night went well and then a couple days later I decided to just go driving around some more, because I just love doing that. Making my way back towards our house, I stopped at the riverwalk and took some pictures of the ducks and turtles that were hanging out there.

Anyways, my dad came down that Saturday, the 16th, to pick me up and head down to Austin to catch our flight in the morning. We stayed at a hotel not too far from the airport. Forgot exactly where, though.
Our flight was FR211 to DEN and then SSX3376 to FAR. This would be my first time on Frontier and on the Q400.
So the morning of the 17th, we got up about 430, got ready, checked out, and headed off to the airport. We eventually found a parking spot and caught the bus to the terminal and went to check in. Check in and security went smoothly, so after that we decided to get some breakfast. We stopped at a Mexican place and got some breakfast burritos which were really good. After that we went down to our gate and waited to board. I went and sat by the window in the terminal and watched a US CR9 push back to PHX.

We eventually boarded and I took my seat in 17A. My dad's seat was 16F, so we were across the plane from each other. The flight was about 60-75% full, so it wasn't a bad load.

Pushback was a couple minutes early, and we were on our way to 35L and DEN.
Takeoff from 35L.

Takeoff was a little bumpy, but other than that, the flight was pretty smooth. The sunrise was on the other side of the plane, but that didn't stop me.
This is probably one of my favorite shots from the flight.

As you can tell, the window was a little dirty, so I couldn't really get any JP worthy shots from it. Ah well.
The view from my seat.

I wanted to mess around with the IFE, but I wasn't about to pay $5 for it. If it was a longer flight, I probably would have. The main thing I wanted was the map. Again, ah well. Watching the world pass beneath is possibly the best version of a moving map.

After landing, the windows started fogging up because of the temperature difference. It was only about 45 degrees outside.

We taxied in and deplaned at gate A44. Our flight to FAR left from A56 (I think, it was down there), so my dad and I went to check it out, and then I went and did a little exploring of the airport because we had about 3 hours.
Our plane is the second one. Taken from the bridge.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/pilotgolfer/AUS-DEN-FAR%208-17/DSCN052.jpg
After a couple shots from there, I decided to go down to concourse C and make my way back.
After I got off the train at C and went upstairs, this is the first thing I saw. Took me by total surprise.

Saw a good bit of WN action.

I don't remember if this is in B or C, but N10BD is hanging from the ceiling with this on the bottom of its wing. Thought that was pretty cool.

When we were taxiing in, both my dad and I saw a tail larger than the others. Well it turned out to be what I thought it was. A 744. So I went down to its gate just in time to watch it be pushed back.
[photoid=6342935]
It replaced the usual 777 as UAL910 on that day only. I thought it was pretty sweet. Although Eric kinda hates me for it. :P

Anytime I see a 747, it's impressive. This would have turned out even sweeter if the 763 wingtip hadn't jut into the picture. Probably would have submitted this one to the db, also.

After watching Ted taxi off, it was time for me to head back down to our gate. Grabbed a quick shot of the Great Lakes ramp that filled up with EMB-120s and Beech 1900s.

My dad and I were one of the first to board, and it was a full flight, so I got out the in-flight magazine and did the sudoku. The hardest one was the only one not done, so I decided to do it. Got it done before we reached the runway, so it was under 20 minutes.
First time under the bridge. Pretty cool.

Pullin' 'em in. As I've said before, it's always pretty cool to watch the gear do its thing.

The landing was a little bit of a rocker. We floated for a little bit and then touched down on the right and then left mains.

When we got off the plane, I called my mom to let her know we were in Fargo. I forgot how windy it was until we had gotten our bags and stepped outside to get the rent car. It was a fairly windy day. Well we made the drive up here with the usual stop in Hillsboro, ND. Saw one of my friends also in band stop there also, but we didn't get to talk because she left before we did.
Well that's that. Apologies for the quality of some of the pics. I'm not as vigorous on editing the pics for here as I am for the db.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed, and I'll probably be doing another multiple part trip report for the Christmas break. It's a busy one this year for me.

A very nice trip report and excellent pictures.:) It's nice to see that you got three photos accepted into the database. How was the service on Frontier? If I remember correctly, I believe that the moving map is available for free when you fly Frontier.

Thanks, guys.
Frontier had pretty decent service. It was my first time flying them, so I didn't really know what to expect. Next time I fly them I'll have to see about the moving map. It was pretty good experience even though it was an early flight. Love those, though. I have another shot of the UA744 taxiing out in the queue, so I guess we'll have to see how that one goes. That shot's my first of a 747 on here with plenty of tries before that including a NW742 at DFW back in January.
I'm not much of a writer, so I usually let my pictures do the talking.
Well like I said, I have a busy break full of flying ahead beginning in the morning, so I'll more than likely have another multi-part up sometime relatively soon.
Also, does anyone know what that rattling sound is in the takeoff vid just after we rotate?

LOL!Airbuses are known for there wierd nosies. One time on a flight from PANC to LAS on US Air,a flight attendent informed us that the plane type we were flying on,an 319,and all the other 320 family, make weird nosies. It was probable the gear going up.

The weird noises that Airbus A318/319/320/321 are due to a hydraulic mechanism known as a PTU. PTU stands for Power Transfer Unit. I believe it helps alleviate hydraulic pressure differences between the green and yellow hydraulic units. I believe there have been a few threads on this, so maybe you can look it up there. The PTU makes that weird woundt...shooo....wondut...wondut sound, sorry I know that's a bit childish, but that's what the PTU sounds like. Sometimes it can also be heard as a "barking" sound. As for the weird rattling sound after take-off, the bell or ring sound, most Airbuses make that sound when the gear is raised. In your case though, I agree with BoeingKing77 and believe that the weird "thundering" sound was probably the gear being raised.

Thank you,

Rohan

rohank is right. But those noises can be scary if you don't know what it is.
