Had occasion to fly LHR-PHL-LHR on business last week, though unfortunately the company I work for only allows cheapest economy seats. :-(

Had to be in Philadelphia Tuesday-Friday - both US and BA were £1K + for flights on Sunday and Monday, Saturday was £310 - seems the Sat night stay is still well and truly around. (flight was full as well)

First time on BA long-haul and T5 at LHR, didn't check any bags in to be on the safe side.

BA67 - 777 G-ZZZB - seat 23A - pushed back bang on time at 11:15 from gate B36 and took the long taxi down to runway 27L, take-off was at 11:40. Flight was long and boring as usual, seat was not particuarly comfortable, leg-room was standard and made worse by the morons in front constantly reclining their seat, reclining seats should be banned!

I have to say dinner was excellent, probably the best I've ever had in the air, cabin staff were attentive and came round frequently with offers of beverages.

We landed on PHL's 09R at 14:20 - 5 mins late, immigration was mighty quick for once and I was outside Terminal A having a much need smoke at 14:50.

Return leg on BA68 was 767-300 G-BNWV - seat 17K, inbound from LHR was 30 mins late but we pushed back at 21:55 - 5 mins early. Seats, legroom and reclining as earlier, dinner this time was disappointing, little more than edible, dozed off most of the trip, landed at LHR at 09:30, 30 mins early, then spent 20 mins waiting for somebody at the gate to wake up, so bascially we arrived at the gate bang on time!

Impresssions: T5 - looks like it's been sorted out for the most part, apart from the final arrival at the gate on the return everything worked as you would expect.

BA - has had a bad rep recently, my experience as a first-timer with them on long-haul was good, staff were friendly and helpful (I have flown AA, DL, VS, CO, FI and AI on trans-atlantic before so it's a fair comparison)

I was staying in a hotel a couple of blocks from City Hall, 10 min walk to the office, didn't go much, was too damn cold!

Supposed to be going back for another week - Dec 13 - bet it'll be even colder!

No waiting on my flight, taxied straight on to runway, mind you it was 10pm so things had quietned down by then.
