LAX-PEK Air China

Just wanted to know if anyone here has flown LAX-PEK with Air China on one of there 747-400combi. I will be doing a round trip this november. Any info would help. Thank you.

I guess my reply is very late. I've had experience on their 747 on a different route, I would not use it. How was your flight anyway?

I have flown twice from Melbourne to Beijing via Sydney and Shanghai or Guangzhou. I think I was on the 747 the very first time. That was at least 5 years ago though. I was flown in the business class for half of the trip.
From my limited experience, all of my Air China flights were at least 1-2 hour late with no apology from the staffs. Very poor organisation in ShangHai or GuangZhou. Almost no PIE.(Even when it was working, there were less than 5 movies on demand) FA have no control over the passenger as some of the passenger were using mobile as the plane taxing in the airport. I did not hear the pilot spoke a single word in both Chinese or English on any of the flights.
Overall, none of my Air China flight was enjoyable. However, my last experience on an international leg was 2 years ago and my last Air China experience was a year ago. They have made some improvements, but I would not use it for a long haul at this stage. Just a personal opinion based on my personal experience. I did notice some improvement according some flight review on skytrax.
