Missed inspections prompt regulators to ground 24 Trans States jets; 45 flights canceled

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Federal airline regulators said Wednesday that 24 jets operated by commuter airline company Trans States Airlines Inc. were grounded because they do not meet safety standards.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said the airline reported the problem Tuesday and the aircraft were being checked.

Not in this case, since this was the result of a self-audit by Trans States, "before" the FAA began its own audit of the airline. In any case, the phrase "class action lawsuit" will always be around as long as the word "lawyer" is.
