What ancient monoplane is this

I came across a bunch of my mom's old photos from when she used to work in the arctic as a flying doctor. But this wing-view is confusing me. The type of aircraft is on the tip of my tongue, but just not getting there. Thank you all for your help in this matter,

That, folks, is a DHC-2

It is indeed a DHC-2 Beaver.

Looking at the wing tip handling rope trailing along in the airstream I would say it is on Floats.
