At least five pilots attempting to land at airports in the Greater Toronto Area have complained to Transport Canada about someone on the ground shining a laser at their planes, penetrating the cockpit window and flashing the pilots in the eye.
What kind of idiotic idea is that, pls? Is that a singular occurrence or has this happened at other locations before?

There was one story I read where people were doing that, at like SLC or someplace, and a chopper crew identified them, so they used the spotlight to light up the house until the cops arrived.

Some idiots were doing that at SQL last summer from time to time but they'd always drive away as soon as they were reported(must have had scanners). Apperantly one day a California Highway Patrol chopper that was doing touch and go's hovered very low over the road at the end of 30/12 and cut off their escape route and 2 airport cops promptly arrested them.

Apperantly they were student pilots themselves!

I also read a novel on that once. Except they were also using some kind of flash-bangy things and some 14 year old had to land the plane as the pilots were blinded. Enthralling.

It happened to some of my friends while they were in the pattern down here at New Smyrna. They ended up coordinating with the tower and police and ended up circling over this guy's house and eventually had the police show up at his door.
