apparently because one runway was closed for maintenence, and the other runway was blocked by a landing American Airlines aircraft with hydraulic problems.

The photo shows the classic symptoms of a centre hydraulic system failure. Flap 20, gear doors hanging down....been there, done that!

Good job by the crew to get everyone down! I saw it on the SBS, final GS was around 157kts - The winds were around 10-18kts I think.

Was handled brilliantly by both crew & ground staff. I was there filming at the aviation park all day yesterday. The plane had been trying to get away all morning. It aborted a take off earlier in the day and went back to the stand before leaving for chicago and returning before this incident :)
