I am compiling a list of new aircraft types and new airlines that will be added to the upload page.

I am considering adding Light aircraft and military aircraft. Furtherly each countries air force will be added. However if everyone could pitch in airlines and any aircraft that will be needed. Right now I didnt start adding yet so its an open table.

Note that we will not be adding customer codes such as 757-222 and 747-436.

Please email me with the additions or post them here.

I'd say to add helicopters as well: the basic types of the major manufacturers. Even if you were to add *all* of them, there's really not alot - compared to light planes anyway.

Anyway, whatever you do add is all to the good.

Keep up the great work!

A bit off the topic, but while we're at it, how about more airports too? All the biggies are in there, but there are a lot of medium sized ones that should be included IMHO.

Fair enough I will add helicopters in there. I am also adding in defunct airlines.

Chaz. Adding airports will come after this project. Im estimating this will take a couple weeks give or take.

Polishair42,

Thanks for adding the defunct airlines category.

I don't know if it would be possible, but it would be great if you could distinguish between some of the airlines whose names have been resurrected time and time again such as Braniff, Pan Am, Laker, or Midway so that, for example, users hunting for photos of the original Pan Am wouldn't have to sort through the photos of the currently operating Pan Am.

Just an idea....

Khalifa has been added.

Lindy: I am trying to think of a way I can do that. Any ideas how we can mark the defunct/still flying airlines?

Also should we put the defunct airlines in a seperate section...or keep the selections with the current airlines?

May I ask why the customer codes for aircraft will be left out? That has been my only desired upgrade to this site. I am sure there is a great reason for it, and would like to hear it.

You can check up the customer codes in the jetliner database..

I really doubt this site needs to get so technical with customer codes.

And cuz Mr. Kilroy dosent want them at this point (I believe or last time i talked to him about it)

I see then...Well I would like to add that it would be a nice upgrade at somepoint. Some may find it technical, I would say it would make things "complete." Just my opinion and would hope someday it could be incorportated.

Polish Air 42,

Adding the defunct airlines category will be a little tricky. There are various lists around the net of defunct airlines that you can use so that any photos of those airlines uploaded in the future will be automatically added to the defunct category. I suppose many of the photos in the database now will have to be added to the new category retroactively.

Fortunately for the programmer and unfortunately for the fan of defunct airlines, there aren't that many oldie photos on jetliners just yet. For example, I looked up a few famous defunct airlines:
AirCal: No photos in database.
Allegheny: No photos in database.
Ansett Australia: 26 photos.
Braniff: 2 photos. (Both Braniff version II)
British Caledonian: 2 photos.
Carnival: 1 photo
Eastern: 8 photos
Pan Am: 19 photos, 7 of which appear to be the original Pan Am, and the rest of the current variant.
PSA: 2 photos
Reno Air: 1 photo
Sabena: 81 photos
TWA: 36 photos

To distinguish between different versions of the same airline: You could number them: Braniff (1), Braniff (2), and Braniff (3) or distinguish them by year: Pan Am (?-1991), Pan Am (1998-Present)....

A simpler solution, if that's what appeals to you, might be to say to hell with the defunct airlines and simply make categories of photos by decade: (1980-1989), (1990-1999), etc.

Regardless of what you decide to do, thanks for your efforts!

I think we can go by Pan Am (1) or Pan Am (2) I dont want to go by decades, too complicated.

Chris is going to put in a updated version of the airlines today. This is NOT the complete version, nowhere near it but for now its an update.

An updated version of the airlines is now in place...

If anything needs to be added give me a holler...

May I suggest adding SATA to the list, there seems to be quite a few SATA, but they get confused in the search, because some people are calling it SATA International and others SATA Internacional while others call it SATA Air Azores or SATA Air Acores. Perhaps if there was just one SATA name it would cut down on the confusion. Just a suggestion.

Jorge I got SATA marked. Itll be added on the next upload page update.

I have photos of Balaircta. The two charter airlines Balair and CTA came together as balaircta (as it was written on the aircraft for a while). But now this livery has dissapeared again. Maybe you want to add this airline too.

Hello,

You already know I love this site, but I'll say it again, I LOVE JetPhotos.net!!!!!

Alright, came across an airline today not in the DB, Melzong Airlines. I uploaded some shots today...Whenever it can be added - that would be great.

I have a question for you higher ups...I noticed today, that you have removed the "date added" field for each photo on the photographer stats pages...I really liked having that information at least for keeping track of my own photo stats. While I now like that the regi is shown, I am hoping the date added will be implemented again...Thanks Ryan

Ryan,

Thanks for the comments, and your continued support of JetPhotos.Net! images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Regarding the Photo Added Date -- I'm afraid that had to go. There were 4-6 server calls being generated for every photo date being displayed. While that is not significant for a user with 5 photos in the database, it can literally bring the server to its knees if one has, let's say, 700 photos in the database.

I had received a couple of requests from photographers to include the Registration on that page -- to assist them in determining what had already been uploaded and what hadn't -- so I made the change.

Unfortunately, I don't see us being able to include the Date Added again in the near future.

My apologies. images/smiles/icon_sad.gif

ROAR! images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I will definatly miss that, just made it easier to see how the photos were doing, oh well!

So how about Mekong airlines, I feel so stupid having thought it was Melzong Airlines....
