Hello Alain. This reply is alittle bit unusual. I kinda noticed the heavy tug on your AF 744 photo. I didnt think they'd ever used that large of equipment. Must have been as long as a bus. DANG..:shock:

They used it, type of equipment is Sovam SV4 in use from 1983 until 2000 when replaced by GoldHoffers and Kraus-Maffeis.

AF used a parked 707-328 to test a development prototype of the Sovam on full scale. Although it looks cumbersome beside a Krauss-Maffei, the Sovam was one of the first (if not the first) towbar-less tugs ever developed. Interestingly, they were used to tow aircrafts from the maintenance area to T1, T2 and cargo area, the latter located about 10 miles away from the opposite direction.
