cool. Interesting read how it came together on the assembly line so well. It says it's going to replace harriers, does it have VTOL capability? I don't know much about the F-35

But F-35s are cheap. They cost about a quarter of what an F-22 costs, thats why they are making so many of them. Someday we probably will see F-35 in thunderbirds/blue angles colors. I think it would be sweet!

F-35 is a new F-16. Cheap and probally getting a lot of orders like the F-16. It's an F-16 replacemnt. For those who don't know the F-35. Australia is liking the F-35 and a possible future customer.

The F-35 is a multirole capible of doing air combat, ground attack and close-air support. F-35 "A" is a conventional take off and landing aircraft, the "B" is a STOLV aircraft that can takeoff anywhere (like the Harrier of course), the "C" is an aircraft carrier version. The aircraft's maximum speed is around Mach 1.8 to Mach 2.0. The F-35 is to replace earlier F-16 versions, earlier F/A-18's (A,B,C and D NOT the E,F and G) and compliment the F-22. It is a cheap and effective fighter aircraft. The cockpit features a single large touch screen and an helmet-mounted display.
