Has anyone ever really enjoyed their food on their flight?

Yes, I have! The first time I remember was buying a snack aboard a Song flight. I bought a Fruit and Cheese Snack ($4). It contained seedless grapes, dried fruits, cheddar and swiss cheese, and wheat crackers. It's a nice snack, and pretty healthy too.

Another time was on American Airlines. Now maybe my expectations are low [I have no idea], but the breakfast was good! There was a choice of cereal or an egg sandwich. The egg sandwich was pretty good for airline food, and it came with bread, honeydew, and a juice. The return flight was chicken and rice; that was pretty good too!

Sun Country has great food. I've had Sandwhichs, a Cheeseburger, and a breakfast sandwhich, all far better then a little bag of trailmix.

Continental Airlines: Although their portions might be a bit small, their food is quite tasty. I've only flown "longhaul" flights with them, so I really don't know what their domestic flights meals consist of...although with recent cuts it probably ain't great.

I dont really recall on any of my flights where i have complained about the food, when you're up there, you basically go with the flow ..."Turkey or Beef " ?? Uhmm hmmpppp Turrr Beeef... Beef thank you !

Well you know what I mean and I didn't have to correct you. You could have opened up Webster's! Oh wait, I thought you were going to Princeton???Learn how to spell "bisness" correctly! Oh and by the way, I had a GOOD point on the Virgin Atlantic thread.

I fly United usually but have I never eaten tasty food onboard their flights. I flew ATA airlines recently and I was pretty impressed. Their frozen sherbert was surprisingly tasty.

Another option is to open up a Webster's dictionary. Aren't you a student at Princeton University?Your spelling was "bisness" when it should have been business. And the reason why I didn't want to spell it your way is because I like to spell correctly! I had a GOOD point on the Pamela Anderson thread, not a dull point.

I'm trying to get back on topic but indian airlines here started it and I have no other choice but to defend myself.

I've had breakfast on US in 2000 which was pretty decent, I must say. bagel with cream cheese, some orange juice and something else. been a while, but it was good.

See there you go again with that "strategy" of yours. You always have to get off topic like that. For example. In the Pamela Anderson thread I said that I backed up my story and that's all that matters. And then you went about how some stupid freeway was backed up!Get a Webster's dictionary. You obviously need one.

Haven't had a bad meal :) Well... maybe except from the cold chicken Maersk served me in 1998. But they've improved... and then, there's that very bitter melon-looking fruit that almost every eastern airline serves... I never liked it, but I can't tell it apart from the rest of the fruit (at least not the melon) so I accidentally eat it every time (come on... I can't NOT eat the fruit, it's GOOD! :D the rest of it that is). Which is usually followed by laughter from the person sitting beside me (I can do some mean facial expressions when I get that into my mouth).

Does anyone know what exactly this is? It looks like a yellow/white piece of melon... and it's very, very bitter...

I posted my opinion and how i felt about it and then JeffinDEN goes "no one makes you pay that. You choose to pay that price." Then somebody goes, " does anyone see how ironic the name flyfirst is?" I just like to get my point out that is all. But the comments they make infuriate so much that I think it is mandatory to respond back. Honestly, why is it everytime that people find me guilty. Instead of me having to ignore them, why don't THEY not post the comments in the first place then I won't have to ignore them thus not starting anymore off topic stuff!!!

I don't think I've ever had a bad meal on a flight, with the exception of an Air Jamaica flight MBJ-ATL. We got some Jamaican breakfast with fish & some other stuff I'd never seen before, which wasn't very good, especially since I was running a fever & didn't feel like eating anything.

I had chicken covered in something that was like Spaghetti Sauce on either US Airways to/from LGW or Delta to CDG a few years ago, which was the best meal I've had on a flight.

(Or are we still talking about airline food in this thread? ;))

Never had such a terrible problems with airline food. Always loved the breakfast Sabena used to serve on their HAM-BRU/BRU-HAM flights, very delicious sandwhiches.
And on Delta, well, I still vividly remember the days when I could still fly BusinessElite *drooooooool*. But even in economy, the food was rarely any bad.

I've had pretty good food up in BusinessElite on Delta. Back when most of Delta's flights to Japan were routed through PDX, the domestic leg of the flight had international service, so needless to say the food was better than the standard Domestic 1st class meals they served at the time.

About 5 years ago when I was flying on Air Canada frequently the meals were all excellent.

The best airline meals were the meals that were served before deregulation, when meals and service were used to attract customers. Its sad to see those days gone. :-(

Olympic Airlines has always excellent food and plentiful, since i travel with them all the time..
But i also should mention Hawaiian Airlines, Alitalia, Air France, Austrian (for long haul) and Finnair (Based on my own experience of course)
I almost never complain about airline food which i actually enjoy. IBERIA though had the worst pasta i have ever had in my life.

BMI both on long haul and short haul

A330- MAN-YYZ
Wonderful food- choice of 3 main courses- cumberland sausage, vegtable bake or chicken.... didnt taste like airline junk but a proper meal. Served with crispy salad, chocolate and a warm roll and to top it all off ice cream and this was in economy!!! Little things like a bmi glass made a great impression.

A330 YYZ-MAN
Same great service but the options were like beef, chicken and a vegitarian choice. Same great food plus there were many choices of wine and beverages. Menu cards were also handed out both legs (plus ice cream)

Short haul MAN-LHR
Even though there was only 35 mins flight time, the snack a pillatti wasnt that bad!!

Maybe i am partial, but i enjoy the food on Olympic Airlines.
I was also very satisfied on Air France, Singapore, Thai, Finnair, Tap Air Portugal, Hawaiian Airlines, Alitalia and Austrian. Worse i ever had was on Iberia. But still, it was edible. If you chewed well enough....

AA flying back from JFK in Business, had an excellent medium-rare fillet steak

VS flying to LAX in Upper class oddly enough had the best scones and jam and cream ive ever tasted. Washed down with 4 heavy vodka's and apple juice with a wedge of lime. ;)

A few AA internals (usually on the 763) in F. Lunch is usually pretty good, again washed down with copious amounts of vino

CX to HKG in Business was pretty dam good food if i remember correctly

Those are the ones off the top of my head for now

Ok you jammy git no need to ram it down our throats about your first and upper trips ;)

Saying that.....the "snack" I had flying AA ORD-LAX in first was 100 times better than the dinner I got in economy crossing the pond.

AA's pizza was really suprising too....very, very tasty and i wanted another one.

I've had pretty decent food in MH, SQ and EK economy and QF and BA aren't that far behind either.

On the whole food is alot better now than it was 10-15 years ago.

I too am a fan of AA's pizzas on transatlantic routes. My fiance is not so keen so i always get two helpings!:D

On the other hand the lasagne on VS 03 {Jul 2004} was the worst I have ever tasted!

Air France in Y, back in '97. From BOM to CDG, great food, rice with a couple veggies, the softest roll I've ever eaten, and the smoothest Black Forest cake I've ever had. Plus all the usuals.

Then from CDG to IAH in Y, Indian-style cutlets with a light but rich-tasting flan, nice sugary crust on top. Yeah, amazingly I remember all that but it definitely wasn't ordinary airline food. 8)

I had a great meal Business to New York from Heathrow. Crayfish Cocktail thingy to start, followed by Fillet Steak, followed by Cheery Cheesecake. Yummy....

followed by Cheery Cheesecake.

I also prefer my food to be in a good mood before I eat it.

Eh I flew Frontier to Minneapolis on Saturday, and the inflight magazine said I was supposed to get a bagel on the SFO-DEN leg, and a granola bar on the DEN-MSP leg. All I got were drinks on both flights.

Airlines that always served amazing food:
Jet Airways
Singapore Airlines
Air France
Indian
Continental

Hit or Miss:
Delta
Northwest

Unbearable:
Egyptair (only airline meal I haven't been able to eat!)

You think Continental serves good meals ...? I think they could do a better effort, serving that kind of meals.

Breakfast back in 2001 on ATL-EWR, wasn't too bad. It was something more than a box of wheaties in Y, which is something more than can be expected these days!

In July, the flights I had between SEA-DEN and back on AS, they had some really tasty zuchini breads, a major (and tasty at that) upgrade over the peanuts I'm used to. :)

Back in '92, a USAir segment between PIT-DFW had a rather filling breakfast of eggs, croissant and sausage. How I miss the old days!

I have great memories of airlines meals. I special ordered a hamburger on AA BOS-LAX back in '01. It said it was McD's burger but it looked and tasted way better than anything I've ever had there. Last real meal I ever had on an airline was UA BOS-DEN in 2003. It was some egg, cheese, and ham thing baked inside some kind of flaky crust. My mouth waters just from thinking about it.....

Since then all I've had was peanuts and such. Speaking of, remember WN's honey roasted peanuts? Those were some of the best tasting peanuts I ever had. The dry roasted ones they have now are ok, but really I wish they'd bring honey roasted back.

Why'd they ever get rid of them?
I have to say though, on WN's 3 hour long flights I've taken out of MDW/LAX the service was pretty good, considering it's a low fare airline. The snack boxes had some wierd low fat Oreo things (REAL Oreo's would have been better, but they weren't bad) rits crackers, and peanuts. Not bad considering it was free.

The meals I had on routes like MIA-PTY in '99, MIA-AUA in '00 with AA were pretty good. Also DL ATL-PTY in '01 was pretty good. And AC YUL/YYZ-YVR and back were good too in '01 and '02. Then in '04 my AC flight ORD-YVR was supposed to have breakfast, but the meals didn't get loaded on or something so they gave this big-ass muffin, which was pretty disgusting and gave me gas. And since then, meal service has been pretty much nuts, snack mix, biscoff cookies (those are really good), or nothing on the flights I have been on. Delta is also good to give whole bags of chips or whatever they have and bottles of water. Also this past July on BDL-IAD with United Express, I got orange juice that was foaming on top. I was like WTF, this is the first time I have seen foaming orange juice, and didn't drink it. And I remember back in '03 United gave these nasty egg rolls for breakfast... I refused to eat those as I didn't want to get the shits while traveling, those things were nasty.

Olympic has good food. No snack boxes, just hot meals on long haul. Meals served on flights over an hour.
JFK-ATH, ATH-JFK 2 meals served. This is all in economy class.
KLM food is pretty good too.

I've been a Southwest guy my whole life. This past summer was my 1st flight on another airline. I flew SAT-EWR and was served a burger like the ones we got in High School. It was better than the one in HS. Then EWR-FCO and I had the chicken with vegetables and a biscuit I think which was gross.. My girlfriend kept ranting "Airplane food is so good so good..." It wasn't all that good. FCO-EWR was lasagna I don't know why I got that I had been eating pasta the past month. Of course I thought it wasn't good because I had been eating the good stuff. EWR-SAT I had cheerios and a banana. The best thing served on these flights was the Mr. and Mrs. T bloody mary mix

yes, I had some really good food on United Airlines when I was flying first class to Vienna Austria from Portland, OR. on my first flight (PDX-ORD A320) eggs flourantine w/ salsa and fruit, seccond flight (ORD-IAD 763) I got a deli platter with 3 types of deli meat and a warm bagette!, third flight (ORD-Coppenhagen 763) I got some very good beef meal and ice cream, and on my fourth flight (CPH-VIE SAS MD 87) we got a small breakfast. I thought all the food was great! Alaska Airlines also has good food along with Horizon Air!

I flew Song last year on July 3rd from BOS-LAS. I had 6hrs of TV and ended up having 2 of those Ham and Cheese sandwiches. They were absolutely awesome...but really expensive.

Honestly, the jalapeno roast beef wraps I had on song were AMAZING for B.O.B. and as far as domestic, eh, Deltas was ok in First, Continental had a good meal for breakfast to and from SXM in First as well.

I used to dig the left over meals that came off of United's flights....Yeah back when a 737-200 or a 727 was around!! Of corse I'm just a fueler, but the cats would sneak me a lunch when I needed one, inbetween fueling my 26 Beech 1900 flights...(no wonder I'm crazy)

Speaking of food strictly, my buds appreciate PIA a lot. However, if I have to talk about the best has to be Gulf. Gulf I've travelled in first, business and economy all three and even while in economy the food has been great! First class, don't even wana remind myself of the scrumptious buffet or I'll start feeling hungry. Also, the Indian local Sahara airlines was the best breakfast I ever had.

Virgin is pretty good too. What I can't stand regarding airline food is from the far east :S. Cathay and Thai were a tragedy for me (not that they're bad of course would be great for other people).

I must admit PIA food has improved alot recently. At one stage it was dire!! If only the stewardesses would smile for a change...ah if only!!

If you ever get the chance to fly PIA I would recommend flying ecomomy plus or better....fly economy at your peril!!! Still don't expect too many smiles from the cabin crew. I tried to get a smile...all I got was a sarcastic smirk.

THe snacks on Jetblue are the best...I know everyone talks about the Terra Blue chips, but their oatmeal Chocolate chip cookies are great. Those arent easy to find elsewhere either.

I am not that picky about food. There have been times I have looked forward to airline food mainly because it was a) food, and b) there was the surprise factor,

I once had a dish of chicken in tomato sauce in economy on AA. It was actually quite good, there just wasnt enough of it.

Im Kosher Style, so I order the Kosher meal whenever possible. Those meals are quite good.

I also know someone who orders the Hindu Vegetarian meal. Its supposedly very good Curry.
