Good afternoon everyone! I have been posting in this site for about three to four weeks now! My most critisized posts are the ones dealing with A.NET! Many by now think I only come to this site to bash airliners.net because I am so upset that my pictures aren't accepted. Lets put it this way, I am not happy with A.NET and that is why I visit this page now. If I was so upset that my photos aren't good enough for airliners.net I wouldn't be posting them here, I am not a quitter, but in this case I have totally lost any faith I had in contrubuting to A.NET. I am posting my pictures here because I want my photos to be shown, (like many others that photograph in this site). I don't care what the difference between this site and airliners.net is, I have nothing against either page itself, infact one of the other main reasons why I post here is the fact that it resembles the A.NET format but is more forgiving to the photographers! I love the physical format of these two pages, I am sure you will all agree. Many have told me, I have to have everything my way or else I wont be happy, that is true. And due to this I should have my own page, well to answer that, I don't have my own page because I don't have time to run it and I couldn't dream to receive the traffic rate that this or A.NET offers.

What I want you to all know is I was not meaning to totally trash a fellow website that I have loved for years (until this one was created). I was merely joining in on what I felt could be a good debate and a laugh about a topic that all of us know and have be associated with for many years now, that standards and management of A.NET. I apoplogize if this offends any members or the site itself. The last thing I want to do is become the PE#1 of this site and bring it down to a trashy level. So again I apologize for any insult.

Finally to the point, one thing that would help future post topics, if a post is a post that upsets you or brings the page morals down then don't get involved. This is a free speech forum and if you want a subject to go away then don't show interest. I personally will not continue a topic if no interest is shown in it. Anyone who continues to reply just adds fuel to a flame, and is only asking for another reply by the point maker. I keep getting these replies like you're a whiner, or this will never end! If the negativity in this site is unwanted then why is that most of us are intersted in it! Posts involving debates are the most popular and will always add colour and fun to the website(I am not saying they are all clean fun, I know some get out of hand but that is when the line should be drawn). So I have said it before and I will say it again: If all that is wanted here is happy, joyful, short lived posts then so be it, but I believe that exciting contraversal posts will always bring the most attention to members and have a more attractive and interesting forum for us! Positive posts don't usually attract debates!

I may be the only one that admits I think this way, but I know most of us do!
I am hoping you will all reply with your thoughts, and then we may all shape the forum together.

So, MERRY CHRISTMAS (or your NATIONAL holiday) and HAPPY NEW YEAR(whenever it occurs) to the JETPHOTOS.NET commuinity and the AIRLINERS.NET community!

The good thing is when a person re-thinks his objectives and realizes he dosent come to JP to bash A.net. I like that, Of course there is free speech, but not to the point where everyone is pointing fingers, swearing and fighting all the time.

BTW Gary whats up with the 1 or 2 blurries u sent in? Come on man! show me the monster that YYZ is! images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Gary,

If I were a site administrator, i'd not like to hear that you visit my site only because another site won't accept your pictures. I'd hope that you visit the site because of the time & effort put into making it what it is. I too like the look/feel of this site, as i've discussed with Chris before, it does have the look/feel of airliners.net and accordingly it's easy to use.

I'm glad to hear that you weren't delberately running airliners.net down, but from over here is sure looked that way. I personally do not see denegrading a site as good fun or laugh. I'm glad to see you apologise to Chris for using his site in this manner, after all .. it's his sites reputation you harm more than anything else. Now if only others could follow your example and get off the subject of bagging out other sites (and in the case of someone else on here, other peoples pictures) and get back to the discussions at hand.

Telling people not to read a thread if they find it offensive is OK, but in the case of denegrading another site ignoring it isn't the appropriate way to go. The simple fact is, that this is not airliners.net, it's not trying to be airliners.net (I assume) and as such it really isn't the place to start bagging out other sites is it? You're saying this site is fantastic (and it certainly looks good), focus on that.

Bear in mind everyone likes to have the last say. You say you won't continue a post if no one responds, fair enough. But on the other hand, I won't start a thread on such topic, only respond. So if I see a thread that bags out airliners.net without reason, then why shouldn't I respond? After all, that's what discussion is about.

Like the next person I enjoy a good debate, but it really seems to me that these attacks on airliners.net and it's crew are not warranted and really, not appropriate here. There is a whole site of complainers who spend their time whining about airliners.net, they don't have any credibility .. that's not what you want for here is it? You can debate about many subjects in this world .. why focus on one?

Want a debate?

Airbus is better than Boeing
Nikon is better than Canon
PC's are better than MACs
The only car to own is a Toyota
Australia .. gotta love it
How can Santa visit all houses on one night?

(can you add to that?)

VH-ADG, I can definately add to that list.
I was merely going with the flow. It is like fashion statements or news stories, what is hot right now you go with! I found the A.NET topic a hot one, why not? Everyone who is showing up to this page is going through a transition from seeing only one major airliner photo database to having a choice of databases now! Many of the JP members are happy that their photos may now be shown and feel good about it! So with their new found glory they may wish to point out problems with former pages in which made them frustrated or unhappy. I had been looking for a compareable website for a long time, and now I found one.
Any comments made about airliners.net were meant for a laugh. I found it very funny that I was hearing the same points about A.NET that I had noticed and just added to the fun with more funny comments. I will admit I am unhappy with A.NET, BUT please understand I only intended any comments for fun and the thrill of a good debate.
My message to everyone is enjoy both sites, and debates are good! And believe me the next HOT debate I will be there for my side!!!

Gary, to be completely honest with you, I havent gotten a chance to see you pics here yet and I am about to run into Manhatan right now for yummy Korena dinner!!

But for the record, while there are users that have "exiled" themselves from anet and try to bash it whenever possible, I never pinned you as one of those people. I never saw that perspective from you. But go figure. clap.gif

I'll check out your pics tonight. Check out mine too! I havea load more to scan in, but I suck at proper scanning!

I just love this site b/c it allows more REAL photos (exciting ones, different ones, spur of the moment ones) to have a chance despite a bit of bur here or tilt there.
That reminds me, I cought an emergency landing at ISP a few months back, I biplane made an emergent ladning and a WN 737 landed in the background. Once I scan that in well, you 'll see that.

talk to y'all later, mirrodie

ok, I'll settle the debate with these final statements...

Boeing rules and Airbus drools
Canon is the best, Nikon is crap
I'll agree on the PC thing...a MAC is a PC for an idiot
Ford all the way, better than TOYotas
Australia...just a lump of dirt jutting out of the South Pacific
And Santa no longer exists. The USAF tracked him down in the 50's and bombed his workshop into oblivian.

PS-let's all learn to laugh and take a joke!

"Mac is a PC for an idiot".....huuummmmm, interesting statement! Wow then I suppose that I have been an idiot for almost 14 years! However comparing the intellect of the average Mac user (present company not included) vs that of the average 'Ma and Pa Kettle' PC drone, I have to wonder which will come out tops on a Mensa test?

BTW, have any of you ever used a Mac? And yes, I have used quite a few PC boxes in my day.

Through subsidies and "creative book-keeping". Let's hope they don't become Europe's Enron.

Depends on your defintion of "professional".

My Ford, running on 11 years, and still works fine. Then again, can you find me one vehicle on earth that can go 10 years without a single mechanical glitch?

You could have known ADG, that if you posted something pro-airbus you would be in for some sort of reply.

So, who cares if airbus get grants from Europe? Just because they're catching up with Boeing. Isn't competition good? images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Australia is not just a lump of dirt IMO. If George Bush has his way it might turn into just another colony of America! However, the UK will come first.
