Dont they fly the 752 from EWR to Birmingham, or did?

I know LTU did some 757 flying from Dusseldorf to Dom. Republic some years ago - one of their flights ended tragicly on the bottom of the ocean.

I think you will find Air TransAt flies (or used to fly) the 757-200 to smaller markets like Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Berlin etc. Canada 3000 used this aircraft over the pond as well when they were up and running. One of the most miserable flights I ever had was on a 757-200 from Lahr, Germany (near Strasbourg, Fr) to Ottawa, almost 4000 miles non stop, crammed in like sardines.

It was in fact a Birgenair aircraft, reg was TC-GUM (or GEN) it was operating for a Dominican carrier on a wet-lease basis.
A few weeks later Birgenair ceased trading subsequently to a throughout investigation over its operations. Based Istanbul when active, it started flying in '85 with a DC.8-61, when the 757 was lost it had a 737-300, another 757 and a 767-200, which also was a regular with capacity strapped Dominican charter airlines.

Otherwise, Icelandair is flying numerous sched accross the Pond with 752s

Oh, actually, come to think of it...

CO operates a PBI-EWR-MAN flight on a 753 once daily.

This flight is used to connect southern Florida to Europe as an alternative to Miami, and provide Newark with service to MAN.

I was on the PBI-EWR leg of this flight, and about 1/4 of the people stayed on to continue to UK!!!

yes fllman, you are right about this! also, don't forget ICELANDAIR serves many european desinations from kef on the 757. they also go to jfk. air iceland, iceland's domestic carrier has a different fleet though.

CO operates a PBI-EWR-MAN flight on a 753 once daily.

that must be pretty bad... flying all the way from florida to manchester on a narrowbody airplane.

Don't you mean 752? CO doesn't operate its 753s on international flights.

EWR-Birmingham

I think they also operate them to Scotland but not sure??

AA used to also operate
ORD-Birmingham (think they droped it due to 9/11)

can't think of anymore!!

I know CO fly thier 752's from EWR - GLA but I think that's only a seasonal thing - only in the summer - the rest of the time is 762/764. Apparantly CO were supposed to be starting a new 757 route from an NYC airport to EDI, but I'm not sure what's happened to that.

I think cle-lgw is just seasonal.

Yes, that's what I meant. Sorry about that one guys...

I was packing for my flight tomorrow, talking on the phone, watching the news, and posting at the same time.

Before Air 2000 got 767's they used 752's for transatlantic flights, usually with a fuel stop.

If you think corrections can be added feel free to proceed but,
During a brief period back in the mid 90s, British Airways operated 752s on its regional routes serving JFK from BHX and MAN.

BA's 757s across the pond were from BHX (JFK-YYZ) + GLA (JFK-BOS); MAN only had them around a dozen times over a 5 year period. Another old British airline which used 757s to Orlando was Air Europe; not soo sure if Monarch also operated transatlantic services with them.

CO's 757 to Scotland is/was a winter season thing only - it was expected that the GLA route would be a 757 next summer following the introduction of their new EDI services but have since decided to maintain 767s on the route. Not heard about them restarting them STN though; MAN last saw 757s on a permanent basis around 1997.

American have also used 757s across the pond: iin 1995 on JFK-MAN.

Thanks david_itl
Monarch also operated services across the pond at least on behalf of
RenaissanceCruise and one 752 (think this to be G-MONE) was painted in the cruise line company c/s. Understood that
*this specific bird regularly flew as far as Port-of-Spain to enable passengers in meeting/coming back from the ship.
*seats were only sold as part of a complete package featuring off course the sea going journey around the Carribeans.
