A380's first revenue flight already virtual RQ (request)

A380 launching airline Singapore Airlines has recorded 10,000+ information requests on its website on the first commercial flight due on Summer 2006 since January, according to a spokeperson.

Due to take place between Singapore and London, this flight will be accessible to bookings a year in advance, as with any other commercial flight, by about two months. "But owing to the sheer number of potential customers, we could put up a draw to allocate the seats" he added.

To be configurated as 3-class 480 seater, the A380s will initially fly the routes Singapore-London and SIN-Sydney.

The aircraft is designed to carry from 555 to 840 passengers, according to configurations.

Singapore ordered 10 A380 firm and optioned 15 others in 2000.

Initially planned during first semester of 2006, this first flight has been postponed to the second semester due to delays piled up by the maiden flight. The aircraft is now up to a long series of tests (2,500 hours) leading to the award of the CoA.

They're going to miss out on a ton of revenue potential if they only configure it to 480. :skeptic:

SQ are planning to paint MUCH larger than usual 'Singapore Airlines' titles on the A380 too, looks hideous on the wallpaper at their site.

I'm looking forward to fly on an A 380. But I won't do it just for fun and to be the first.

You don't have enough information about the config to accurately make that call at this point.

The low seat count could be the result of a high premium-to-economy ratio, an attempt to allow more cargo payload, both, or more.

As per their A340-500's!!!
...well, that was more along the lines of "these crappy things can barely make it otherwise" ;)

The "New" SQ First Class seat which will be introduced for the A380 is believed to be a bit more heavier than the current F seat installed on the Megatops. Dont know if this has something to do with the reduced seat total for this new beast.

:topicoff:
Does anyone have any info on the seating configuration for their 773ER's?

http://www.a380.singaporeair.com/a380/img/blue_plane_header.jpg just a banner vserion, it dosent look to bad actually but the title is huge and goes almost upto the rear end as you can see, its like cheap publicity, something SQ could do without.

They would be better off just painting the first A380 in a special scheme, and applying 747 sized 'normal' SQ titles on the rest of the fleet.

I posted a wallpaper of the new scheme a while back. The bigger font is better, with the a380 the best schemes are the ones that take advantage of the big canvas on offer cos it's a very tall plane obviously. Little titles looks terrible on the a380, and Singapore normal scheme would look pretty bland. Myself I'm thinking the Virgin ones should look pretty snazzy in silver.

All these people will be GUTTED if the delivery is delayed and they get placed with an ordinary 747... Also SQ wont ever guarentee equipment on a route cos it could always go tech on them at any point forcing a change.

Exactly what I was thinking seeing how Airbus announced that it may not be until LATE 2006 before the plane even makes it to airlines
