Have you seen his post over the past few day's !!, He told me in a e-mail to get the hell out of his forums if I have nothing positive to say !!

Well I may just do that, I've already stopped sending pics.

No big surprise, Johan is getting frustrated and that will only make JetPhotos grow even more.

The key is getting the word out to all the good users and photographers of A.net about a great, new alternative called JetPhotos.

C'mon Chris, get the word out!

I second that

You need to make the photographers know that this will be a place of equal screening, even if that means longer screening times due to less screeners. The problem at a.net is too many screeners that have VERY different ideas.

He turned his frustration into his anger.

Airlienrs.net is becoming a dictatorship now....

Some moderate commentsgot treated as "whining"... images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

Daryl,

Firstly, welcome!! I've been on vacation (my one week off all year) in Orlando since Saturday, or I would've welcomed you sooner!

I just wanted to say that I've admired your photos for quite a long time, and I really hope to see much more of your great work here in the future! Your Kai Tak photos are truly some of the best out there, IMO.

All the best!

In one of his recent posts, he flat out told more than one long time supporter to "shut the hell up"

Thats no way to talk to anybody. If it was somebody who was just a newbie wanting to make trouble, I could kinda understand it. But the guy he did it too was a LONG time supporter of his site.

Doing stuff like that will lead to the demise of his site...and rightfully so!

I can not stand to read the "drivel" in the site related forum anymore.. I went through a lot today, and Johan made such comments as "Shut the hell up" (yes, he later apologized), "God Damn it" (in more then one post), and was making accusations against Chris (the webmaster here) for stealing his coedes, even when another of JOHAN'S CREW came forward and said this was not the case.. Also, there is further evidence, as mentioned by Chris..

Also, what is with turning Airliners.net into a popularity contest?? First it was "Esteem rating".. Now it's "Respect rating".. Common.. something has to give.. I mean, if there are ppl on a.net who have been temp banned for telling someone to shut up, then I think fair's fair, right??

Advice for Johan- take a vacation, and come back relaxed..

Chris

Chris,

Thank you very much for that. My photos are not that great but I was lucky to see some interesting things at Kai Tak !

This is the e-mail I got:

---------------------

Hkgspotter1,
Your message with topic "New Photo Uploads"
has been removed from the discussion forum on Airliners.net.
The reason is as follows:

Personal message from forum admin:
"If you have nothing of value
to say, stay out of my
forum. / Johan"

How nice !!

This is such a laugh laff.gif , I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand the airliners.net screening process!!! Chris promise me you will never lose you respect for your hardworking photographers!! This is for some reading material (if your bored read it) I have included an e-mail I wrote to Johan and recieved only a one line reply something along the lines of 'send your appeals through my appeal process!!'

READ THIS laff.gif
Dear Johan,
I notice a trend with the way photos are accepted. I see that, unfortunately your screeners have different tastes in their acceptance of photos. Yes, I do understand that everybody is different, but in a modern society people want consistency from a group or company. I as well as many photographers spend hours...hours... and more hours uploading photos and days waiting for replies on the status of our photos. And nothing bothers them more then to have their photos rejected. I have learned over the monthes and years of sending photos to this website that yes many of my photos are not very good, infact I put my photos through a screening process myself. I have taken almost 2000-3000 photos of aircraft and I would say maybe 200 so far have been suitable to send to this page. But recently I tried something. I sent a photo (that was rejected by a screener) again, without changing it at all and it was accepted. This really bothered me, it made me wonder how many of my photos would have been accepted had I been screened this different screener. Aswell another trend that atleast my collegues who love this site and work along with me at an airport notice, is a possible favouritism with some photographers, if I am wrong I offer my deepest apology but if you look closely it is looks sort of obvious that something fishy may be going on. People I know (and myself) have sent photos that were rejected for whatever purpose and another 'regular airliners.net' photographer sent a similar one and has it accepted.
But to get to my largest problem and the whole reason why I wrote this is, I really dislike rejections that are based on personal opinions naughty.gif because how do you or your screeners know that others will not like this photo. I have recieved many rejections for "bad angle" because I took the photo while I was standing under a wing or under the gear. I think many people who don't work on a ramp would love to see what planes look like from a different point of view, rather then the same points of view that most other photos have. Look at the popularity of photos that are taken from special angles compared to a side shot which most people recieve when they visit the fence at an airport and watch planes. I sent a photo which you actually accepted and it is one of my most popular ones, it photographes the nose gear of an A340 before pushback at night.
All I ask is that you consider changing you screening process. I have a suggestion, since you have a rejection page for your photographers anyway, why don't you post those photos with naughty.gif "personal rejections"(bad motive, bad angle, etc, not including photos that are bad quality) naughty.gif and see how popular they are, if they don't reach a certain goal of views scrap them, if they do, add them permanately. Because then you give all photographers a chance and your audience more selection and interest!
One more thing, I dislike the rejection I recieved for a picture I have included in this email. Just yesturday, the picture below was rejected because it had "no motivation", I don't see motivation in any other wing view shots that are much better then this!! So please screen this yourself and tell me what you think, if this picture to you has no motivation then I don't know why you even bother accepting wing shots in the first place.

Please reply and consider my suggestion because right now I (and many others) are very unhappy with the unconsistency of your upload process!!!

Airliners.net is now too important to care about us. Their view is just like many big companies.

They don't care if you don't send anymore pics because there are plenty of people that will.

naughty.gif Guys, not that I care, but I like this site as well as the other. But don't you realize that by coming here to ***** about airliners.net, you are already turning this into AIRWHINERS.net??

C'mon, hkg1spotter. This site is starting out fresh and has its own goal and vision. Please don't turn it into another airwhiners.net.

Both sites can co-exist. Remember why we are ALL here. WE all love planes!

I cant say that I completely agree with that and either way, we cant be shielded by "We'll A.net is Sweden ran so you dont have freedom of speech."

Guess what! JetPhotos is American ran so we DO!
laff.gif

Really everytime someone would cry freedom of speech the old Swedish thing would pop up for an excuse to delete their posts.
Here Chris actually listens to what people have to say and take critisism without banning everyone.
This isnt anything like Airwhiners.net..
There isnt much traffic in the forums YET and most of the new traffic are newly banned from A.net and still uunderstandably mad.

Don't pic me out as I speak for many.

As for this site there is no chance for it to become like airliners.net

If people want to complain about airliner.net they should be allowed to, if Chris thinks we should not then its already taken a step towards airliners.net

mirrodie

Just a final point.

most of the new traffic are newly banned from A.net...That's funny b/c I can tell you that not many people, out of over 9000 users, get suspended. Furthermore, a few people have been suspended more than one! I believe this past month saw 2-3 suspensions. So this is not a common thing. images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Don't pic me out as I speak for many...Well the saying goes, you can choose to speak for yourself. I just dont see the point of beating the proverbial dead horse. I mean, look, I am a moderator from the "other website." and still I find this site great.

AND I DON'T think this site is going to ge the new LAND FOR THE MISFITS, a place for the exiled to come. You can CHOOSE a site....
or view both. In my mind, 2 sites are better than one!

So, as I said before....

Both sites can co-exist. Remember why we are ALL here. WE all love planes! And happy holidays everyone!

Banned isnt exactly what I meant but there is NO possible way that only 2-3 people get banned or suspended a month as I see postings DAILY about people being suspended. And what else I meant is when people cancel their subscriptions. I know I cancelled mine after about a week.
Dont try to tell me only 1 or 2 people have cancelled their FC membership, as I know FAR MORE have left on their own.

Anyways like you said we're here to talk about planes, so EOS. images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I like both sites because they're both about aircraft, but I like this site just a bit more. Especially the forums. The topics at A.net are becoming sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long and boring... some topics are attracting soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many posts that I even don't bother to read them all, just scroll a bit and read a post every now and then.

Speak for themselves, Names are what count at Airliners, here, none of those pics would have made it one. Yet an A.net screener puts them on A.net, which by the way, only accepts the best quality photos, and its accepted.
