Hi, Chris ! Hi, everybody !
Great idea for a website. I was already tired to download the plane pics from a.net, slowly and always with that doubt weighing on my conscience wether I´m violating the copy right rules or not.
My real name isn´t Pipe Organ, images/smiles/icon_eek.gif nod.gif, I´m Heiko, German, almost 36, work as a tecnical manager for an american company in Brazil. We deal with anything about electronic surveillance.

A little about myself:
I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently.
Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row. I woo canines with my sensuous trombone playing. I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.
Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello. I was scouted by the Mets. I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge. I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear.
I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a travelling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat 400.
My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me. I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby-Dick and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations with the CIA. I sleep once a week and when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me. I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid.
On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have even spoken with Elvis.
But I have not yet got my PPL.

You've been lucky. A story around here says that 4 folks went hunting in Northern Ontario and to get there they would use the C182 that one of the 4 owned. Well when they got to the airport the weather turned crap, so they decided to wait, after a couple of hours one of the guy went to get a pack of beer. Well, the weather lifted up and they took off, all drunk except the pilot. With the guns in the back one of the drunk idiot decided to open the window and started shooting at some birds inflight, the two other followed and started shooting too. The flight turned ugly when one missed and fired a shot on the aileron. The airplane crashed and only one survived, the pilot I believe.

Greetings everyone!
I've been an airline geek since the era of
the 8-track, Fleetwood Mac, Astrojets, Clippers,
Starstream Jets. The "Friendly Skies" were
filled with "Flying Colors", all-white fuselages were
rare and a trip to the airport meant seeing a
variety of airliner-types, each looking different
from the other. I really go for the nostalgic
side of all this ..
I'm 40, live in Dallas, TX.. previously in Los
Angeles, CA until Dec. 2000 but originally from
Texas.
Mr. Kilroy and others... GOD LUV YA FOR BRINGING
TO US ANOTHER AIRLINER SITE/COMMUNITY! Hopefully
this will remain a pleasant alternative to ..well...
you know who-dot-net.

Hey Guys....some of you might know me from airliners.net, i was a big active poster on airliners.net. But I came here to get my pictures online, well...because airliners.net AND planepictures.net always seems to reject my photos and i think they look pretty good in quality. You can check my pictures on this site...either search for "Kevin Cook" or "Staggerwing777@aol.com" in the keyword field.
About me:
Well, I am currently 18 years old, I will be 19 on Dec. 4. I am in the world's greatest Navy...yes, the United States Navy. I've been in the navy for about 5 months now and my job in the navy is tearing down General Electric F110 jet engines at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. Sometimes in a few months, i will be on a ship for 6 months to the gulf to kick Hussien's butt. I am a private pilot with a bit under 100 hours TT mainly on the Cessna 152 and also logged an hour of MEL time in the Piper Aztec. I will hopefully do my flying out of Langley AFB or NAS Norfolk Aero Club. My ultimate goal is to become an airline pilot with a major airline, however, i might try and fly with the navy, if qualified or I will be flying on a corporate airline from a friend who will possibly hire me in the next few years.
Well, that's about me.

A lot of people in NYC don't drive. That's why we have the largest subway system int he world. No need for it.
Waste of time and money. Les tress during the commute and better for the environment.

I hate Counterstrike. It's too animated and not realistic. I also didn't know that they had the USP in it.
If you want a more realistic combat simulation, go with Rogue Spear or Ghost Recon (although I think RS is more realistic).

Hey everyone! Thie is Richard AKA National_757 from Anti-America.net (Airliners.net). I'm almost 16 and I'm from Vegas. I used to like National Airlines a lot. Now that they are gone, I just like aviation in general. I also like playing football and basketball, and lifting weights. NASCAR racing is also big for me. I root for #97 Kurt Busch. Well anyways, glad to be the newest member of Jetphotos.net and I look forward to becoming an active contributor to these forums.
I wish you all the best of luck Chris. I love AirDisaster.com and I know JetPhotos will be as successful or even more successful than AirDisaster. Believe me, I will tell everyone about this new site.

I was sad when National went the first time, circa early 1980's - sold to PanAm when deregulation started to put the screws to some airlines. My father worked for the old National - its where my fixation with aviation came from. 8-)

my name is Stefano and I live in Rome, Italy.
I am 28 and I work for Ericsson in the Mobile Telecommunications Support area.
I have been living until now in Ciampino, Rome's second airport but I am in the process of moving to the city centre to live with my boyfriend.
I have always loved aviation maybe because I grew up with the sound of jet and props in my ears, living so close to the airport.
I hope this site and its forum will become a great place for us aviation lovers.
Here you are a picture of me taken last August while I was waiting to board my Alitalia A321 for a trip to London.

Hi all....my name is Ryan Cruz. I'm 26,married with one kid(Ryan Jr). I was a American Eagle pilot....first F/O then Captain on the Saab 340...however due to cutbacks post 9-11 I got displaced back down to F/0 then furloughed. Since my wife got a great job in MD...and my favorite airline has a huge operation in Baltimore...I decided to work there until my class date with SWA. I have been enamored with airplanes since I was a little kid.....even now if I hear one go overhead,I crane my neck around to hear it(my wife says she feels like she has two 2 year olds). I still glad we have people post 9-11 that still love aviation and take the time to express it!

Hi all. I just realized that my only formal introduction on this thread consisted of my notation that "I like hamburgers". images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
So I figured that I would do a better job...
I'm AmyB. I'm 28 and live in the great state of Georgia, USA. ...I used to be a fearful flyer a few years ago but now I'm not after some rigorous soul searching. So, I try my hardest to encourage other fearful flyers at the website AirDisaster.com...and perhaps there might be a few over here who will lurk about from time to time.
Due to the long journey I took to get over my fear of flying...I now have a pretty deep love affair with aviation and have gained a lot of knowledge on the subject (at least for a girl who works for a news organization and was an art major in college. images/smiles/icon_wink.gif). I've been an administrator over at AirDisaster.com for around 2 years now and it's been very interesting and rewarding. I hope that I can offer something to this site fromo time-to-time as well as learn a lot about this vein of aviation enthusiasm from y'all.
And just so you can put a face with a post, here's my mug:

And my other tiny (literally!) contribution of an interesting aviation photo. Me standing inside the engine of a Delta 767 at Hartsfield, ATL:

Hi There!
My name is Marc - I am from Germany ... since some days I post part of my pics at JetPhotos.Net, which is a very great site! And yesterday I noticed the Discussion Forum.
I am now 30 years old, and love everything about commercial Aviation.
I live quite close to Munich Airport (MUC), but I also love to spot at other airports. I use to go once or twice a year to the US, of course not only for spotting, but also ... ;-)
If you are interested in my hobby, which - I guess - is very similiar to yours, please check out my homepage: www.muc-spotter.de (http://www.muc-spotter.de)
Thanks for this great homepage - I really hope to learn everything I need to know from all of you here at JetPhotos.Net! And - of course - I would be happy to learn to know as many "airliner-people" as possible. If everyone is here at MUC, please let me know ... if I have time, I will show you around at "my" airport!
Best regards from Munich,
Marc

Well I already posted something like this. But here it goes. My name is Cory Klimko. I am 14 from Orange County. I have had a great love of aviation since I was about 6-7, and got into photography when I was around 12. I plan to become a pilot someday for Northwest, but wouldn't mind flying for American. I have always had a feeling that Georgia was a wonderful place, so I plan to moce there when I get older. And retire around the Savannah area, maybe Tybee Island images/smiles/icon_smile.gif I hope to go to college at Cal State Fullerton, but if I could go anywhere, I'd like to go to UM - Uiversity of Michigan, or Georgia Tech. Later.

Hi, I'm ZeroAltitude because that's the altitude I usually fly at (currently FS2002 at 4.6 GB).
I joined the forum in order to raise the average age some - I'm 47 and an electrical engineer turned software developer, ages ago I had a PPL which isn't active anymore thanks to insurance fees, gas prices, three daughters and a time-consuming job.
I live in rainy Germany near Düsseldorf.

Ok, here goes a long overdue message. Hi, I’m Dave Dippold, and I’m a nice guy. I’m 15 and live in Princeton New Jersey. Unlike some, I don’t really think I have a future in aviation, I just like planes. I also like sport, especially baseball, where I root for the Mets and Twins, as well as a local team, the Somerset Patriots. Good Stuff.
I have the name, NWA_4_life for a few reasons. I like it because it’s original and because Northwest is a great airline, that will probably be around for ever. They have a great fleet, some great routes and great airport terminals.
See ya around!

Well, after putting it off for too long. My real name is Michael Presley and I'm a auto dealer in Grants Pass, Oregon. Which is 30 miles from Medford. I hold a muti-engine pilot's license and I'm type rated in a C-152, C-172, A Beech King Air 350 (http://www.raytheonaircraft.com/products/turboprops/kingair350/) and a Baron 58 (http://www.raytheonaircraft.com/products/pistons/baron58/). I don't own a single aircraft, but I do own seven cars and one motorcycle. Before becoming a auto dealer I was a Military Police officer and a Civilian Police Officer. I have just joined the Reserves of the local county Sheriff's office in my part of Oregon. That woud make me a full-time car guy and a part-time Volunteer cop. Once a cop, always a cop. I'm thirty years-old and I'm thinking of opening a fast food place in Southern Oregon (Krispy Kreme) within the next ten years, if I can raise the money. laff.gif

Hi, I'm Darcy Stevens, I just found this site yesterday, and started uploading my pictures right away, this is my second post on this forum. I'm 20 years old, studying Business Administration in college, although I wouldn't mind finding a job at or around the airport! I'm from Toronto, Ontario, and you might have seen my pictures two other sites (one starting with the letter "a", and the other starting with the letter "p" images/smiles/icon_wink.gif ), as well as having pictures on this site. I have been interested in planes my whole life, and living about 15 minutes away from YYZ, I'm able to get out to the airport quite often. Besides aviation, I'm also really into sports, love watching football, hockey, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse, with football being my favourite sport (yes, that includes the CFL as well as the NFL). Anyways, that's enough about me!

Hello, just found the site.
I am Chris B, no kidding and the funny thing is that my wife's name is Amy, that makes her Amy B! No relation to Amy B here though.
I am 35 and live just outside Washington DC, I try to spot as much as possible at my 3 local airports (BWI, IAD, DCA) I like IAD the best because it gets many more international liveries.
Once a year we go to Aruba, it is our favorite vacation spot, I like to spot there as well hence the name (AUA Spotter).
In my spare time I make 1/400 custom models in liveries that are not made by others, I do sell these to aviation fans but not in large quanties.
I am a 15 year old from Annapolis Md.(Arnold technically) I can fly(kind of, 3.5 hours dual in a 172) I love US Airways as I fly them to visit grandparents in Merritt island, Fl.(via MCO) and Camarillo, CA(via LAX). I live 20 miles(give or take) from BWI and have Slovenian ancestry hence my flag. I guess you could say I am a refugee from a.net although im not really. I was never a member and was directed here by a post at a.net(which I saw in AIRWAYS) I love it here and respect all the owners/operators here.

Hi guys!
I am Bruno, I am 27 and I work as reporter on a weekly newspaper. I felt in love with aviation, since the day I was born. I also work as a free-lancer photographer and newspaper layout designer.
I can’t help that yearn for airplanes and helicopters. There is always something flying in my imagination since ever!
I hope I can share my passion for aviation as well as for photography.

Greetings one and all from the great (but wet) Northwest -
I'm David, and I'm a 42 year-old ex-Brit who now resides in Seattle WA. I work in Operations for Horizon Air at SeaTac, and travel around the western US and Canada as much as I can taking photos.
I've been shooting aircraft piccies since the late '70's, slides for many years and digital (with an Olympus C2100) for the past two years. I've been in this crazy business about the same length of time - anyone here remember Air Commuter or Venture Airways???
All the best, David

My name is Louis and I'm 26 years old. I work as an independent financial consultant in New York City. I'm originally from South Carolina, but I've also called Maryland, Massachusetts, Edmonton and Toronto home. I have both US and Canadian citizenship and I am of Greek ethnicity.
I love aviation and am dying to work in the industry. Other interests include economics, politics, sports, pro-wrestling, exercise, computers and travel.
I’m spoiled living in NY with three awesome airports nearby, making spotting really exciting. I love living here, but wouldn’t mind living in Sydney, Asia or South America for a few years.
This is a great site and well moderated. There’s nowhere near the tension as there is in a.net. I’ve stopped posting there entirely. I hope this webpage succeeds.

I'm an admin at a Flight Simulator website: http://fsfreeforall.net which was created for many of the same reasons this site was created to make a hobby have a more enjoyable experience online. Most of my pictures are from Daytona Beach but I do have some from my home town of Boca Raton, FL. My equipment is a HP Photosmart 850 which is a good Prosumer camera. It has 8x zoom and 4.1mp resolution. Favorite planes are the KC-10, CRJ, F-15E, and Falcon 900EX. I'm also an avid radio scanner listener with most of my time spent listening to Military Aero. I am Jason, permanent resident of Missouri, junior in a college aviation program in Florida. I am a commercial instrument pilot with a fair bit of multi-time. My favorite page in my logbook is a high-altitude endorsement and IFR refresher in a B737-300 full motion sim. I travel at least every other weekend (thank God for websaver fares) and am elite with American, Delta, and United (but refuse to fly Delta due to their basically telling frequent flyers to go f*** themselves). I volunteer many hours a week at the Jacksonville Intl Airport.

I love Cathay, and I like their pilots. I always fly Cathay.
Which routes do you do the most??
Cheers,

Richard
03-20-2003, 01:48 PM
I too love Cathay. I guess I'm what you would call a frequent flyer. I go almost everywhere on CX. B777 F/O, I'm guessing that you fly primarily regional Asia-Pacific routes like Taipei, Japan, Singapore, Bankok?....
So how is takeoff on such a long plane like a 777-300? Do you have special on-board software as to prevent a tailscrape?
Colin Parker
03-21-2003, 12:13 AM
Hi Richard and TK,
I do indeed mainly fly around Asia. Japan is mostly used on training flights so I don't get there much. Sometimes I go to Seoul, but mainly Singapore, Jakarta, Colombo, Bangkok and the Middle East (Dubai, Bahrain and Riyadh).
There is no special software to prevent a tailscrape in the 773. All we have is a tailskid that will prevent damage to the aft fuselage. However if you rotate at the correct speed and the correct rate, then a tailscrape is not a worry. The 773's V-speeds are artificially increased so when "Vr" is called, you are actually at speeds higher than VR already. This helps to prevent a potential tailscrape by allowing the aircraft to lift off more easily.
Colin.
Richard
03-21-2003, 02:32 PM
I see, thanks a lot for that info. I've always wondered about tailscrapes on such long aircraft. I'm guessing the same takeoff method would apply for the A340-600s.
Are you qualified on other CX aircraft? If so, which ones, if not, are you looking to qualify for them?
Thanks
Richard
Colin Parker
03-22-2003, 06:57 AM
Well the Airbus has the ability to limit the angle of attack in order to avoid a tailscrape. The Airbus and Boeing method of thinking is quite different. It's a case of who do you trust, man or machine? Airbus trust the machine, whereas Boeing allows the pilot to retain ultimate control. There are arguements for and against both ways of doing things. Personally, I'm a Boeing man.
I also have a licence for the 747-400, but we don't fly different types at once on the Boeing fleet. Maybe one day I will return to the 747-400, but at the moment I am looking to stay on the 777. It might be out of my control, but I like the 777 route structure and the aircraft is fantastic. As for Airbus....no thanks. :shakehea:

Hey Pete, welcome aboard :)
I fear US Airways won't keep their A330s for much longer, I hear they're going to focus more on RJ ops :(
They restructured their Airbus order so they get more A330's. This time the -200 variant is their choice because it has less seats.
Richard
04-11-2003, 08:31 AM
They're buying them to replace all the 767s right?
Yes. I honestly thought the 767's looked good in US Airways livery but with the Airbus's they can lower costs.

US could use RJ's on the trans atlantic flights and increase frequencies.
They just need to sell all thier A 330's. They could get many RJ's for the money.

Hi, I am Mike. I'm known on another site as mls515. I'm also very close to my PPL, about 1.5 hours according to my instructor earlier today.
I have some photos, maybe I'll try to upload them in the future. I have a single other site photo and a handful on airpics.com (http://www.airpics.com/search.php?string=537&si=0&st=12&count=10). Are they good enough? I'm not really a spotter or really into photography so no big deal. I decided at some point in the past I'd never contribute to the other site ever again, so I am looking forward to sharing again.
I'm a fairly recent college graduate, and for now I'm driving motorcoaches and loving it. The coaches' bodies and chassis are made by a company in Belgium called Van Hool, hence the username. The money's a plus, I can actually afford my flight training now.

I haven't introduced me properly to this forum yet .
I'll just try it now, though it is pretty late.
My name is Andy and I live in a small town near Stuttgart in Germany.
I'm 19 and will finally finish school this year (the 4th of July will be my "Independence Day")

My turn now!
Work for a translation agency in city centre Manchester and speak precisely 1 language only: English (but have a smattering of French, German and Spanish, in order of understanding).
I do have another website which I haven't updated for a wee while (make that almost a year): http://fly.to/northwest-spotters. I'll get round to it sooner or later.
Have yet to fly (but I expect to sometime this year) and was 35 on March 12th but missed the "Swiss fly-in" at MAN that day due to heavy workload.
Follow most sports (with the pleasure and pain experience in football: Middlesbro is my 1st club {pain} (I'm getting treatment for this condition  ) and Man Utd {pleasure}. Member of Lancashire CCC (and was at Old Trafford today)

Hi Guys,
I havnt introduxced myself yet but here goes:
My name is Jason Nicholls, Im 17, 18 in july and enjoy all aspects of aviation. I travel alot and try to visit as many airports as possible throughout the year both in the UK or out, as you will see from my photo's! My local is SZD/EGSY Sheffield City Airport, but nothing goes on there so I consider MAN/EGCC Manchester International Ringway my home airport. Although soon I can call Doncaster Finningley International Airport my local when its opened!
I am a new member of the jp.net crew too as a screener.

With this my 60th post (I think), maybe I should introduce myself.
My name is James and I am an Australian ex-patriot now living in Washington, D.C. with my wife, Emily. (I grew-up in Adelaide, South Australia). I work at a law firm specializing in antitrust law and international arbitration. Our workload involves a reasonable amount of aviation law, with one of the US majors being one of our big clients. I am NOT an attorney (largley because I haven't finished my law degree yet) nor do I intend to be. I plan to enter public policy specializing in international affairs or even aviation! My wife meanwhile works on the Foreign Desk of a major Washington newspaper.
I also run a couple of websites, http://www.airigami.net where I publish designs of paper airliner models that can be downloaded, printed, and built to create relatively accurate-looking models. I am also currently working on http://www.airigami.info to be a source of airline information including information about airlines, aircraft, alliances and tail designs.

a lil bit bout me: im a 25 year old student whose hobbies are mountaineering, mountainbikes, planes, politics, adventuring and travel.
i live near the very nice airport of EDDK(cologne/bonn, germany).

Hi all,
I'm NoUFO from Berlin, Germany and one of those A.net refugees. But don't worry, though people from Berlin are considered rude I guess I'm quite moderate. :D
Thank you very much for granting asylum this quickly.

Hi there!
I'm one of the latest airliners.net refugees and hope that I'll get as familiar with the forums here as I was at the other site!
A big thumbs up for the asylum, and I wish the site good luck and huge success in the future! Maybe this'll make some Swede return to sanity...
Cheers!

I fear this will never happen, since KROC is a mod and Matt D errrrr his old-time friend is now a full fledged FC. :-(
Anyway... I'm not an A.net refugee but I did read their forums quite often. I too hope that I'll enjoy this board as much as the other one.

Hi guys (not sure if there are any ladies in the group?). I'm Dale and live in Peterborough, Ontario, just 3 km up the road from YPQ. I am a Manager at Air Canada's System Operations Control Centre in YYZ. That's 141 km from home!
I'm 47, married with two daughters and other than watching airplanes or flying somewhere I'm a stamp collector. Favorite place other than Canada is Australia.
I heard about this site from A.net. Pretty good so far and entertaining as well.
Amy's the only women in the forums I believe.

She should have used the old National Airlines tv commercial (i think it was National? I was only a kid in the 70s) line to introduce herself:
"I'm AmyB, come fly me!"
