In July, I'll be flying from Brussels to JFK. What do you guys think is the best choice for this flight? Also, please tell me which aircraft they use.
Grtz,
Nicki

Hi,
In my opinion its British Airways.
Thanks
Thomas_Cook_757-200
If you connected through MAN or LHR (i think) you could fly US Airways A330-300's to PHL or CLT then fly to New york.

I've had 4 trans atlantic flights.
1. (FRA - MIA; American 767-300) was good, but I can't really remember much. It was also some time ago
2. (FRA - Las Vegas; Condor 767-300) There was a camera in the nose of the plane. You could see the landing and take off on the screen.
(LAX - FRA; Lufthansa 747-400) good service and meals.
3. (FRA - ATL; Delta 767-300) food and service were not really good. return flight was a MD 11. terrible breakfast.
4. (FRA - MAD - ORD; Iberia A 340-300) was the cheapest available flight. good food. service ok but not extremly good.
(ORD - FRA; United 777) This was my best trans Atlantic flight. My American Eagle flight from CLeveland to Chicago was late and I missed the Iberia flight. So I was put on United. great service, food and IFE. The crew was half from United half from LH.
United wins i hands down. But wait untill LH upgrades their economy class with PTV's.
LH offers Internet on board on one of their B 747-400's which flies to one destination in America. But I don't know if they fly this special palne to JFK.
Only to IAD and I beleive the flight was only during march and april.

Jep it was only a test.
But beginning in Mid 2004 they want to start to update the complete longhaul fleet with Connexion by Boeing systems.
I don't know what will happen with the one plane which already has the systems installed. I guess they will just keep the service available.

Go with American. The more room through-out coach is great for the long-haul, plus nice service, and excellent meals. I have flown on AA coach, and businees from JFK to LHR twice, and never had problems. Flights were on-time both ways.
Okay I am biased. But go with AA, seriously "More room..." sure helps in coach. Trust me.
If not, I'd go with UA.

I forgot one point. I think you have to pay to access the Internet as soon as the test period is over.

I'd have to say BA offer a superior service with a consistancy. I flew AA first class to BOS a couple of weeks ago on there 777 and it was pretty bloddy nice, shame i had to come back in coach. I'd say that with the more room throughout coach AA is nice, but there food isnt exactley fantastic with a croissiant and a coffee for breakfast on a long haul flight abismal. BA offer a english fry-up stlye breakfast, not to everyones taste but it sure beats a dry old bit of pastry. So AA for the seats, but BA for ther service and food. Oh and the I.F.E :D
Not so keen on VS anymore there standards seem to have slipped over the last few years.
Kind Regards

Well for me it would have to be American Trans Air (TZ) and European Air Charter (EAF) as i have never flown AA,CO or VS transatlantic because charter is cheaper! and for a good Ad-Hoc charter it would have to be Skysevice Canada (Silver Cutlery and A English breakfast in coach!)

First looks amazing! Though more of a full-recline chair than a sleeper seat I still wouldn't mind spending a long-hauler in that one! Especially while eating some tasty lobster!

Why is there such a lot of difference between first class and business class? The price difference doesn't warrant so much of a difference.

what do you mean? I thought those Business Seats aren't bad, either.
I couldn't find an example Business Class meal, those are First and Economy class meals only

My favorite wasn't on there.
I prefer KLM on transatlantic anyday! Before KLM drew out of ATL, we always took them to BOM...ATL-AMS-BOM being our route. Nice plane, Good movies, good service, hot dutch girls (usually), and a window?
HEAVEN!!!

I like KLM, too (not as much as LH)
but last time I flew Amsterdam to Toronto, there were some old male flight attendants...

Thanks for the information guys!
However, I've been doing some research myself, and the airlines that offer the best itinerary at the lowest price are Delta and Continental, so I suppose that it's going to be one of them. :)

For the prices that BA charge for a Tranatlantic flight you could expect dinner with the Queen! If you want a cheap tranatlantic flight, Fly Charter and upgrade into the first section, and with European its only £199

I've flown AC, BA and AF to Europe all in Economy and AC and BA in Business. AC is the best of the 3 (even though I might be a bit biased).

I can't begin to list the airlines I've flown across the Atlantic. Out of all of them, I'd say AF was the best, LH probably the worst (I was really disappointed with their service) and OA a close second worst. I liked BA too. Never flown in VS, though I hear they're good. Didn't think too much of KLM. I'd also look at CO. They have pretty good service and supposedly their meals are good as well.

I have flown Air Canada, Canadian, Wardair, NationAir, 437 Sqn CF(not really an airline, but they fly the hop for the military, have done it via 707 and A310). British Airways, SwissAir, KLM and Lufthansa.
The best was probably Wardair, but they do not exist anymore; of the exisiting airlines British Airways was probably the best.
