Fellow photographers:
I started plane spotting photography hobby two years ago, casually when I met some guys shooting airplanes on the top of a car, nearby the runway of the airport.
I thought: “This must be great!”
First problems fixed: bought a camera I could afford (F65), started going to the airport (having more and more fun shooting), then the film scanner (Dual Scan II), and so on…
As I am a reporter, I wrote an interview later on with this guy I met on the top of the car, who as been since then, a major influence to me.
He told me about these sites (airliners.net and recently jetphotos.net), where I could post and admire other peoples pictures.
Well, my questions are:
Why should one post pictures on those huge databases? Just to have a photo there tell friends: “Damn, I have pictures there!”?
Should one submit pictures to anonymous screeners, people that see so many photos, that many times do not even try to make a good judgment?
Should you (and for all I’ve seen and read on the forums it is true) shoot aircraft just to post them on these sites, rather then for the great fun and pleasure that this hobby can provide?
Finally, should one build a dedicated site to post the best pictures, rather then having them rejected or lost in an endless database? Even if no ever goes there, but, even though, just for the fun?
Thanks. I appreciate your opinion
