If you think this was an anooying flight, you're right. If you don't check the departure time. Keep in mind my cousin, who was to drop me off, lives 45 minutes from the Airport when there's no traffic!

UNION CITY, CA
My mom and I wake up at 4.00 in the morning to get ready for the airport. I was around 5 pounds heavier (come on, Ghirardelli's chocolate, eating out 23590729846535 times in 7 days...)

My cousin woke up (he's 29 and married, and his wife's about to have their first kid in a few weeks). We had a cup of coffee each, bid goodbye to every one who elected not to come to the airport at 4 and sleep, and we were off!

Crossed Caliornia 84 (Dumbarton Br.) and head north on US Hwy. 101. WE got off at the domestic checkin, and presented our E-tickets. Then we gave up our suitcase for checkin, and once again, like the way to SFO, ran to the gate. WE reached in time.

Boarding went smooth and orderly, and I found out

a) My window would face west if the plane was placed North-South.

b) the north-south rwy was used, wiht take-offs to the north.

As soon as I noticed that, I took my camera out. I would get amazing ariel shots of the Golden Gate Br. and all...

WE took off to the north as expected, and skirted the bay's coastline for around 10 seconds before slightly turning east. Saw a glimmer, and noticed they were buildings. There was not a cloud in the sky, but SFO had its usual Pacific for in the distance. Infact, the Golden Gate Bridge was some kind of boundary between the fog and no fog...

It gave me nice views of Fisherman's Wharf, TransAmerica Building,. Candlestick Park, Bay Br., and the Golden Gate Bridge. I spent a third of a roll of film there. The plane kept it's heading, and I saw the UC Berkeley campus.

In 5 minutes time, all I could see were pastures of some kind. I settled in for the flight, and took off my shoes and socks. Read the inflight magazine again, while eating a breakfast. BR=a bowl of wheaties cereal, one half cup of milk, jam, and a small banana.

I finished it in 10 minutes. I saw the great salt lake again, and played my walkman (SONG: Head over Heals by ABBA and Right here waiting for you by Richard Marx). I basically stared out the window the entire flight.
This is NOT as boring as it seems. There were lots of cool mountains, and for some reason, there was a lot more traffic than I expected. I saw a couple of planes cruss our path some thousands of feet below us. I distinctivly remember a COntinental, USAirways, and a Delta jet. I saw 5 cross, but don't remember the other two...
It was a nice sight. BY the time I finished wondering about the world's greatest mysteries (why can customer service never be easy to use?), we began our descent.

I saw a bunch of tall buildings, so I assumed that was Minneapolis. Looked farther to the north, and saw another bunch of tall buildings-that must be St. paul! I also saw some kind of 'small' airport while descending. I took a picture of it.

THen the plane started turning...almost as if it were aligning with a rwy on the small airport. I realized it was actually MSP, and on closer inspection, I found lotsa red things....

The descent into greenless MSP was not too bad. Our landing was smooth as anything. I saw a few NWA 747s, and a lot of A320s/757s. I also saw a DL aircraft there.

OUr halt wasn't too bad...only two hours. I has a pizza slice and some fries. As soon as we got our meal, the plane boarded. I got into my seat and my mom sat next to me. The seat my mom was in was not our seat, so we had to change it out with some teacher who graded papers the whole time...(I can SWEAR she said 'this one passes...hmm..he fails...fail...so on)

Time of departure: 1.30PM local time
Aircraft: A320
Gate: G13
Seat: 19F-G

Take off was lovely...this flight would be shorter than the others, so I just sat around. I stared out the window again, saw the Mississippi River pass. For some reason, the plane went south, and then crossed Mississippi River in tennesse. The river's source is some 40 miles from MSP...

So the flight path was some sort of L. A beverage was served. I had a glass of grapefruit juice, and some spinzel pretzels.

By the time the trash cart came after the snack, we were just about descending in to ATL. I saw downtown in the distance...kinda made me sad. Same old Craplanta. Sorry for all people who love the South, but I WANT OUT!!!

The plane descended more and more...and I think right before the wheels touched the runway, i jumped to see if the plane jumped too. It didn't. WE passed over I-85...our feet getting closer and closer to the ground...passed the chain link airport fence...and onto the runway.

Another great trip over.

My sister was waiting for us at the airport, and we took same ole MARTA (see ATL goes to SFO part ONE) and went back home.

NOT KNOWING WHEN A TRIP ENDS,

I went home and had the usual indian food. And slipped some Ghirardelli's into the meal. Fooled around on the computer, and went to bed at 3. I was up at 10 the next morning, and before I explain the rest of my life,

I'm gonna end it here!

so,

I always hate leaving SFO when I'm there. Ghiradelli chocolate is good. In Cannery square there is a nice toyshop where hey sell Herpa's and other aviation models. nice report. :D

SFO isn't that bad...but not that great either...

Not that great..pshaw! It beats the hell out of Atlanta. Try ev en visiting the South. All you'll get is bad service, bad traffic, a population with 80% incompetent driving, and bad schools (in some areas)

Once again, I'm sorry for all those South-lovers...Perhaps I should petition my father to move back to Boston, cuz the 4 months there were better than 10 yrs in ATL.

SFO...well, I'd probably like it better...

I've never been to ATL, but I always thought it would be a nice airport. I love the Delta scheme and ATL has A LOT of them...DL764s and 772s are the best!!!!
