The service is nothing special with delta. The drink cart will run through a couple of times and if you are lucky, they may serve you some cold chicken.

Just the typical transatlantic economy service you get on any US airline. And the only thing you have to pay for is alcohol.

I took DL flight 10 ATL-LGW about 2 weeks before September 11th. I have the menu right here for coach class. We got...
--------------------------
Fresh Garden salad offered with salad dressing
Choice of ...
Steakhouse selection- Tenderloin enhanced by a light Tomato glaze, presented with broccolettes, carrots and chive mashed potatoes
Barbecue chicken- Juicy chicken breast complemented by barbecue sauce, served with mashed potatoes and leeks
Bread and Butter
Cheese and Crackers
Dessert- Black forest Parfait
-----------------------------
I had the chicken and as I remember it wasn't to bad. All this though was pre-9/11. I will be flying BA to London from Philadelphia this month and I can let you know how the service was.

I'm sure the service isn't as good now, though

Since you're flying in December, you could go for the 777 on Delta. The 777 has the better IFE, and service levels are on a par between DL and BA in coach.

PHF2ATL...I'm hungry now
DAL767-400ER...I've seen BA's flights for that day, and all are with 777's, but I think DL has some 763's in the mix dont they.. I really hope I get a 777, cause I've been on a 763 before
actually...I've been on every variety of 767 out there...

Well, if you want the DL 777, you should book Flt 12 ATL-LGW and Flt 11 LGW-ATL.

If it's for a band trip, you never know. I remember my sister went to Italy on one such trip, and she was put (with her class) on a flight to FRA and then on to Milan, and on the way back, she flew Rome-CDG-ATL.
Nice to meet another Atlantan

I have a new twist to my London trip....as of right now we're booked on UA ATL-ORD-LHR....what kind of plane will I fly to LHR....I think ATL is served with 735's if I remember, so that'll be a new type for me

ORD-LHR will most likely be a 777. ATL-ORD can be basically anything: 733, 735, 319 or 320.

nothing wrong with a good old 737.....never been on a 777...also never flown United...it could all change...my director is looking at British Airways ATL-LGW...I'd stick with United

Only difference is that seats on the 777 are 46' instead wide of 43' on the 763. Also, on the 777 there are two BizE cabins, and the aisle is also wider. That's about it. Seat pitch is also the same.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I have never encountered a service problem with Delta. I always find their in-flight service to be just fine. They are my first choice when traveling.
