Hi,

i was going through some old photos today of my dads and i saw these ones which i thought were good for how old they are (early 1980's ) I was wondering if they are worth uploading, i havent made any changes to them in photoshop yet but if they might get accepted i will change them around and level them out

:shakehea: No, I don't think that these pictures have a big chance. The third ne might make it after a good job in Photoshop.

Joe,
No offense, but I am sure they look good as prints, but they don't reproduce well on screen.

I had a friend of mine who know more than I do about PS, who I learn a lot from, take a shot at your pic and this is what he came up with.

I still think it still lacks the quality for upload here, but I did learn a lot in cleaning up pictures.

Whew! How the hell did he get rid of all that grain?

Using seleccions, blurs, USM, smart sharpening, and some trial and error. The process how he did it looked easy, the hard part was getting the right areas selected. It took him about 15 minutes, he said if he was given more time, he could do it a lot better, but it would be painful process of going almost pixel by pixel.

It would still be rejected, as now there's the look of too much compression -- almost like a watercolor.

Unfortunately as interesting the shots are (especially the old JAT 707), these are no shots to was a great job on working on them, they won't make it. Also the original prints seem to have turned brownish, as many older prints do over the years. You may have one chance, though, if you still can get your hand on the negatives, and use a film scanner to scan them. But then again only the third photo would show a subject worth of uploading.

Peter
